REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…” for a more weighted argument?

Response 1- Serena
As high school counselor it would be my duty to ensure both students and parent d are aware and informed about college admissions and aid procedures. To inform students of the importance of completing the FASFA and CSS profile I would educate them on what the FASFA was. I would have assemblies for upper class men and host FASFA workshops. I would also connect students to resources in the community that could assist them with the processes.
Their are many different types of aid available to students. There are grants, work study programs, subsidized and unsubsidized loans, scholarships, and private loans. It is important to explain this to students so that they are informed about what they are agreeing too when accepting aid and what they should be looking out for when applying for aid. If students are not well informed on what options are available to them they will not be able to pick what best suits their needs.

Response 2- Alexandra
As a High School counselor, I would inform students of the importance of completing the FAFSA and CSS through classroom presentations, announcements, one-on-ones, and pamphlets. The main way to provide the most to students would be through exposure, if you give them the information they will be able to take it in and navigate their own way through the process most of the time. In their college application process, I would emphasize the importance of filling out these profiles whenever I talked about anything relating to college. I would also give them some examples of how much money they could be getting if they are worried about paying for college based on their parent’s income. I am not sure exactly how schools create this exposure today but I am excited to emphasize the importance to the students of applying for FAFSA.
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and it is required in order to get need-based money. This form checks your family’s financial information to see if you meet the criteria for any need-based loans, scholarships, or grants. It pulls the information from two years prior, which limits the scope a school can see of potential students’ families’ incomes, that is where the CSS profile comes in. The CSS profile is going to pull from only the prior year’s estimated tax forms to make sure you are not in more or less need than the FAFSA says. It is important for students to know the context of the need for forms and profiles such as these so they know if their family struggles with money then they still have a chance of affording college. This will motivate all students to apply to see how much help they might have if they choose to go to school.
